Exposure to role models. Learning new activities. Integration into mainstream society.
Shahnaz Kapadia Rahat, CEO of Mera Maan, and a trustee of Pehli Kiran Schools (PKS), organized a Financial Literacy Workshop for 80 participants, comprising PKS teachers, parents, and community members in the Pehli Kiran School 8 (PK-8) community.
Ashraf Khan and Riaz Chunara, officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, offered key messages and conveyed the importance of financial literacy. They covered important topics such as saving money, opening a bank account, using ATMs, obtaining financing, transferring funds, paying bills, making investments, and other basic financial skills which most of us take for granted.
The full-day event was led by a team of experts. By the end of the day, participants gained important skills and knowledge.
Pehli Kiran Schools (PKS) develops bridges for marginalized, excluded communities, and recognizes that the financial literacy gap is a major obstacle to advancing in society. Addressing this issue helps these communities gain an understanding of finance and banking, an essential building block towards mainstreaming and financial inclusion – towards the ultimate objective of poverty alleviation.
Please consider donating to PK-8 to support the school and local community.
