PKS-2 started in 1998 with 30 students. Currently, 450 students (38% of girls) are receiving primary and middle school education. Over the last three years, 177 students from PKS-2 successfully pursued further education at mainstream schools and colleges. PKS provides children with all school needs free of cost, including uniforms. This is made possible through the generosity and charitable (Zakat and Sadaqah) giving of large-hearted donors.
Montessori Pedagogy helps instill values and strengthen the language and cultural diversity in the classrooms, supplemented with textbooks from Pakistan’s national curriculum. Morning and afternoon shifts provide flexibility to students, as many children work to support their struggling families.

PKS-2 serves a community of more than 5,000 households. Male members work mostly as truck drivers and day laborers, while women work as domestic help in nearby affluent neighborhoods. Languages spoken include Pashto, Punjabi, and Urdu.

PKS-2, being one of our oldest running schools, reflects a highly successful generational impact. Large numbers of PKS Alumni are gainfully employed and also continuing their studies – many in the pursuit of professional degrees. Two students are currently in medical college, and one is pursuing a degree in engineering. Several PKS-2 teachers are former PKS students and now their children are also enrolled in PKS-2.

Islam Khana, who was enrolled in PKS-2 around 2005, went on to continue her studies, graduating from a local college with a Bachelor’s in Computer Sciences, and now working towards her Master’s degree.
